Scope of Work

Client Service Rep Position

serving Central Illinois clients (primarily Decatur)

Are you driven to help people and complete tasks? Do you get your kicks managing and organizing information and helping people solve problems using technology? Can you manage your own time effectively and communicate proactively and thoroughly both in-person and online. Do you want to learn more about digital marketing for nonprofits, social media scheduling and administrative management?

Why do we need a client service rep?

Since April 2017 Grit HQ has grown to serve nonprofits (and a few mission-driven small businesses) across the midwest. But, Decatur is home. Along with our digital team, we are hiring this rad new role - Client Service Specialist - to ensure our local clients get prima customer service.

  • You’re a detail oriented person who can follow specific client directions without extensive supervision.

  • You love systems, marketing, and excellent customer service.

  • This position will report to the Founder + nonprofit nerd, Kelly Gagnon.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Serving as the primary contact for at least 3 different nonprofit clients and following systems and processes in place to achieve marketing and fundraising goals.

  • Meeting with clients in-person and via online platforms on a regular basis, proactively communicating with clients and other stakeholders, and maintaining strong communication on the status of projects with the Grit HQ Team + our Grit HQ clients.

  • Working with clients to manage and execute their projects and applicable action items so that we can help them bring their client stories to life.

  • Capturing video and photos and assisting with event coordination as needed.

  • Tasks could also include: Social Media, Content Management, Blog Management, Email Marketing, Taking Minutes

You might be perfect if…

  • You love developing relationships with a variety of people and nerd out about computer work, and want to work in your PJs most of the time, but also enjoy getting out and about 1 or 2 days per week (usually Mondays, Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays).

  • You yearn for a flexible schedule, but will also be available to set aside 4 hours per day, 3 days a week to commit to being available via email or google hangout (even if kids, dogs, or friends are barking in the background) and can schedule weekly in-person, regular meetings with clients (up to 3 hours per week around your schedule).

  • You want to help nonprofits!

  • You arm yourself with google and online tutorials to figure out tasks and get it done when needed!

  • You are organized, can follow written procedures and feel comfortable bossing people around (including your boss) to keep them on task.

  • You love working with visionary, over-extended, semi-perfectionist, kinda nutty bosses!

You might not be a good fit if…

  • You don’t feel confident to interact and communicate via email or in person in a thorough and proactive manner.

  • You do not have available in-person or online meeting times for 4 hours a day 3 days a week sometime during the hours of 8am to 3pm Monday - Thursday.

  • You prefer to work in a closely monitored environment with lots of check-ins.

Make sure you can commit to:

  • a virtually-managed position with around 75% of your time being work-from-home. You must have the access to a comfortable home office, laptop, smartphone and STRONG internet connection

  • enormous potential for growth as a Grit HQ team member

  • learning and growing with an online, service-based business

Compensation + Start Date:

  • This is a subcontractor role. You will be responsible for paying your own taxes.

  • $15 USD per hour is currently budgeted for this position; up to 12 hours per week to start

  • Anticipated start date for work is sometime between December 1, 2019 and January 10, 2019
